Each child has a unique story and a unique personality and this is what makes the field of ABA so exciting. I began as a therapist providing in-home and school direct support in the Sacramento area. I have learned so much in the Associate Clinician role since joining Trumpet in 2011. Currently, I provide in-home consultation, as well as assessment support and consultation in the school setting. I have completed the BACB Approved Coursework through Florida Institute of Technology and graduated with my Masters in Early Childhood Education from Arizona State University in May 2014!

I began working with people that have intellectual disabilities over 14 years ago. As societal awareness increased and recognized the need to further develop resources and treatments to help address the needs of people receiving a diagnosis of Autism, I found myself immersed in being a part of that process. Professionally, I elected to become more involved via pursuing a BCBA. I completed the corresponding coursework through the Florida Institute of Technology and fulfilled the BACB required criterion to acquire certification. Doing so, enabled me to work more closely with families and professionals towards developing effective evidence based treatment plans. Additionally, my bilingual Spanish background enabled me to work with children, adolescents, transitioning age adults, and their families who speak Spanish and/or English in both the home and community settings.

MSW in Social Work, California State University of Sacramento, 2006

Philosophy of Care

I believe parents to be the experts on their children, and we (the behavior analysts) are the experts on the behaviors. Together we make a great team! Working together to create plans and programs based on our combined knowledge and experience to bring about success! I thoroughly enjoy working with the families in our community. Working closely with families brings great satisfaction in helping them recognize and learn, how to better support the needs of their children. It is an enriching experience watching families adapt and evolve through the learning process to implement ABA skills and strategies with consistency which changes the quality of life.

I began working as a behavioral therapist in Oct 2011 while working towards my undergrad in Psychology in Humboldt County and worked there for 19 months. After graduating, I moved back to the Bay Area where I became an assistant teacher at an alternative school and worked mostly with elementary and middle schoolers with emotional behavioral disturbances, as well as autism and other developmental disabilities. I then went to Seattle to obtain my master’s degree in Special Education and ABA while doing an internship in an inclusive preschool program in the extended day preschool program for kids with ASD. After obtaining my master’s degree, I moved back to the Bay Area again and am now an Associate Clinician here with Trumpet Behavioral Health and plan to sit for the BCBA exam in February.

MEd in Special Education & Applied Behavior Analysis, University of Washington, 2015
BA in Psychology, Humboldt State University, 2012

Philosophy of Care

I love working in the field of ABA, especially with our clients with developmental disabilities. I love seeing the progress and potential shine through our clients from the services we provide and the positive effect it has on their lives as well as their families and other persons close to them. Seeing a person happier from becoming more independent and getting their needs met is such a rewarding experience for me and has grown through my experiences working with different kids throughout my 4 years of experience so far. I look forward to learning and growing myself to better serve and change the lives of the families we work with.

I have worked with children since I graduated high school. I began working with children and adolescents in outdoor programs and resident camps. In 2013, I began working with children on the Autism Spectrum as a behavioral therapist. I was promoted to Clinical Supervisor of ABA programs in 2014 and began attending graduate school to study the field of ABA soon after. Midway through 2016, I began working at Trumpet Behavioral Health as an Associate Clinician.

B.A. in Art Studio, UC Davis, 2010

Philosophy of Care

I love providing ABA services because we improve the quality of life of our kiddos and their families on a daily basis. The best thing about ABA is that it is scientifically based and tailored to the individual child and their needs. I love giving families effective strategies for managing behaviors and teaching pivotal skills to their children.

In my undergraduate studies, I took child development, psychology and ASL classes. I began my graduate degree after working as a behavioral therapist. Midway through 2016, I began working at Trumpet Behavioral Health as an Associate Clinician where I continue to be excited about being a part of our Antioch Center.
