Philosophy of Care

I have chosen to dedicate my career to providing evidence-based best practices to individuals with exceptional needs. As a Developmental Psychologist, one of my passions is embedding applied behavior analysis (ABA) within a developmental, multi-disciplinary framework. My ambitions include greater outreach to underserved communities, continuity of care across the lifespan, and helping all individuals be successful in the least restrictive environment.

Philosophy of Care

I minored in early intervention and eagerly looked forward to working with young children with disabilities. I was lucky enough to stumble upon a beginning company that took to time to teach and train me in the practice of Applied Behavior Analysis.  The field suited me so well, that I began master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education that morphed into specialization of Autism through a grant program.  All the while, I continued to work with young children with autism.  I moved through various agencies, in South Carolina and California, gathering new skills in a range of teaching methods.    When it comes to my client, I look to grow the potential of each client through the ABA teaching methodologies that will suit him or her best.  My first goal is to work toward the client’s maximum level of independence, while making his or her family unit stronger. I want to work with families to achieve their goals for their child and recognize all success, regardless of size.

I have been with the company since fall 2011. A year after being with the company I fell in love with ABA and began studying towards my graduate degree in Behavioral Analysis, and will graduate in July 2014. Working with children has always been my passion, but Autism has a special place in my heart. I began working with special needs children in 2009 as a caregiver. Soon my paths lead me to ABA and my experience continues to grow with in school and home settings. Being bilingual in English and Spanish has come to great benefit here in the East Bay, and I look forward to more years to come.
