Our Santa Cruz team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and therapists collaborate with educators, healthcare providers, families, and most importantly, each person we serve. At Trumpet, we utilize a multi-layered approach to serving our clients: from our in-house insurance team to our financial consult, we make the process of accessing services as seamless as possible.

I always knew I wanted to work in health care so I pursued Masters degrees in Business and Health Administration in order to support clinical teams providing great service.

After graduating from the University of Michigan, I managed urgent care and occupational health clinics. I joined the Trumpet team in 2015 to provide support to our clinical teams as they deliver excellent service to our consumers and their families.

I began working with children with developmental disabilities in college, where I was an one on one ABA therapist in preschool and home settings. This is when my passion for teaching children with developmental disabilities was sparked. The smallest gains were the biggest accomplishments in my eyes. Each child and family presented a new learning opportunity and I fell in love with being able to make a difference. I pursued my Board Certification as an Associate Behavior Analyst in the following years and went on to graduate school to receive my Early Childhood Special Education Credential and Masters at San Francisco State University. I have worked in a variety of settings as a behavior analyst and a special education preschool teacher in San Francisco and Santa Cruz.

Philosophy of Care

I have always been drawn to working with children and knew I wanted to go into a field that helped children in need. Through my first exposure in college of ABA therapy, I knew it was the career path for me. I became intrigued by the complexities of developmental disabilities, especially autism spectrum disorders and became compelled to further advance my knowledge of ABA to provide evidence based interventions.

It thrills me to see gains made by applying reinforcement, shaping, and task analysis procedures to skills such as language acquisition, play skills, self- help, and social skills. Not only teaching children with developmental disabilities but teaching care givers how to implement ABA to improve areas of concern fascinates me. This field combines many areas of expertise and I love being able to be a child and play while running programs, a teacher while assessing, creating, and supervising programs, a clinician when looking at behaviors of concern, all while practicing family centered services as a behavior analyst.

The volunteer internship at a pediatric out-patient clinic in my hometown in Germany, inspired me to become an Occupational Therapist, when I was a teenager. During my university program and after my graduation I had the chance to gather valuable experience in working with clients in prevocational programs as well as in geriatric and mental health settings. However, I discovered that working with children is the most rewarding experience for me. Over the past years, I had the opportunity to assist children (with neurological, cognitive and behavioral disorders) in developing their skills to become successful in their natural environment.
