My interest and experiences in behavior analysis started as an undergrad serving individuals with intellectual impairment and autism.  As a graduate student at University of the Pacific I began working with individuals across the life span.  As a Ph.D. student at Western Michigan I began publishing research in the areas of preference assessment, autism and gerontology.  I have conducted numerous presentations at international, national and local conferences.  I have been practicing clinically in Canada and the United States.  Additionally, I have been a guest editor for several ABA journals as well as contributed to book chapters in the area of behavior analysis.

Education

Ph.D in Behavior Analysis, Western Michigan University, 2011
M.A. in Psychology, University of the Pacific, 2006
B.S. in Psychology, California Lutheran University, 2002

Philosophy of Care

I have always had a passion for working with individuals with special needs.  As I attended college and graduate school I became increasingly intrested in the area of behavior analysis.  I feel that this disipline is one that allows me to be effective in assisting individuals in reaching their full potential and helping them to live healthy, happy, functional lives.  I see each client as unique and individual and enjoy learning about their specific skills and needs as we work together to achieve their outcomes.

I love providing therapy to children with autism because seeing the impact that the change in behavior has on the family is very rewarding. I began my degree after interning at a school for children with autism. During my internship I learned the basic principles of behavior analysis and fell in love with the field. After graduating from college I decided to pursue a masters in ABA. I attended Florida Institute of Technology where I got hands on experience working in a state of the art autism clinic. In addition to time spent in the clinic I was part of organizing a social skills group for kids ages 5-14. I also was involved in a federally funded grant that provided 10-weeks worth of parent training classes. I completed my masters thesis on sibling training. While running my thesis I was able to gain experience working in-home with the families. I am very thrilled to be part of the Trumpet team!

Education

M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis, Florida Institute of Technology, 2013
B.A. in Psychology, Florida Gulf Coast University, 2010

I began working with children with special needs as part of an internship in my undergraduate program, and it has been my only job since! My dedication to behavior analysis has taken me to Boston to pursue my M.S. in ABA and to be a teacher at an award-winning school for children with autism, to Belfast, N.I. and Romania to provide training and supervision to clinicians, to Chicago to further develop my school-based consulting skills, to OSU to pursue my Ph.D. in ABA and special education, and back to Chicago where I am now a professor of special ed. and a clinician with TBH. I have had the opportunity to conduct research and organize lectures and workshops on a broad range of topics, as well as work and consult in home-based, clinic-based, and school-based programs.

Education

Ph.D. in Applied Behavior Analysis & Special Education, Ohio State University, 2013
M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis, Northeastern University, 2007
B.A. in Psychology, St. Mary's University of MN, 2004

Philosophy of Care

Throughout my career, I have worked to enhance the outcomes of individuals with moderate to severe intellectual, physical, and multiple disabilities. Specifically, I have focused on implementing effective strategies to increase academic and daily living skills, as well as to decrease challenging behavior. This work has also included teaching parents and caregivers, as well as staff, how to appropriately maintain and adjust those interventions. I pride myself on being a flexible behavior analyst who draws from multiple experiences, in order to help students reach their full potential.
