Philosophy of Care

I entered the field as a team member on a home-based ABA program for a child with autism.  I was inspired by the intervention outcomes, the data- based decision making, and the collaborative nature of problem solving that guided programming.  I strive to create and maintain this kind of program for each individual with whom I have the privilege of working.  I especially enjoy working to improve the play skills of young children with autism and educating their peers about how to assist in this process.

I am truly blessed with my career as a speech language pathologist, and am passionate about helping my clients maximize their communication potential.   After completing my first year of graduate school, my summer internship introduced me to ABA.  After graduation, my externship was completed here at TBH.  I knew I had found my niche.  I work with children from preschool-age to adolescents, with a variety of speech and language disorders.

I have always worked with children, but it wasn’t until early in college I began to work with developmentally disabled children. I pursed a career in this field immediately after finishing my undergraduate degree, and later received my Masters in Education with an emphasis in ABA. I have worked in a variety of settings including home, school, and the community.

Education

M.Ed. in Special Education/ABA, Arizona State University, 2015
M.S. in Psychobiology, California Lutheran University, 2013

Philosophy of Care

Shortly after beginning my career working with children with developmental disabilities, I knew it I wanted to continue to learn and grow in this field. Seeing the progress each child can make with the right support and care from therapists and clinicians is what drives me to continue to grow professionally. I truly enjoy seeing how each individual child learns differently and working together with a team to find the most successful approach.

I began working in the field shortly after completing my B.A. in Child Psychology, and immediately fell in love with the rewarding nature of ABA. I returned to school to complete a M.Ed. with a concentration in ABA, during which time I became a BCaBA. Upon graduating with my master’s, I became a BCBA and soon after, moved from Florida to Colorado to begin my career with TBH.

Education

M.Ed. in Applied Behavior Analysis, University of North Florida, 2014
B.A. in Child Psychology, University of North Florida, 2012

Philosophy of Care

I believe that all kiddos can learn! An exciting element of this field is the challenge of identifying what each child is motivated for and what teaching strategies will work for that individual. It’s such a rewarding field to work in. Each day, successes are celebrated- no matter how small- because each small success is a step towards greater ones. I love making the most of all opportunities for learning, and using them to make learning as fun and natural as possible. My experience includes working in the office, home, and community settings, as well as collaborating with teachers and providing parent training.
