Ohio Summer Camp – 2014

Meeting the Unique Needs of Individuals 3 – 18 Years of Age with Autism and Related Developmental Disabilities

Red, White & Blue

Description: We are seeing red, white, and blue! Enjoy a week full of 4th of July activities celebrating favorite pastimes. Create your own flag, compete in potato sack races, and make instruments. We will also be electing a camp president, so get your campaigns ready. We will be ending the week by parading around the center with hand-made instruments!
When: June 30 – July 3
Cost: $350 for the week

Dinosaurs

Description: Big to small, fast to slow, ferocious to calm, dinosaurs came in many different forms. Stomp, chomp, and roar like a different dinosaur each day! Make claws that build nests, sharp teeth to catch prey, and travel to the time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Throw on your lab coat, roll up your sleeves and start examining fossils.
When: July 7 – 11
Cost: $425 for the week

Mad Science

Description: Mad Science week will give kids the opportunity to learn about science through our interactive and hands-on science activities. We will let children/teens become junior scientists for the week and embark on a series of science adventures! We will experiment with a magnet bottle, investigate butterflies, erupt a volcano, make colorful sidewalk chalk and much more!
When: July 14 – 18
Cost: $425 for the week

Moovin’ n’ Groovin’

Description: How many games do you know that are set to music? Musical chairs, Freeze dance, hula hoop hop. Campers will learn these games as well as many classic dances. Camp Movin’ n’ Groovin’ takes excitement along with fun-filled enrichment experiences. Students will participate in music and dance activities designed for all ages and abilities.
When: July 21 – 25
Cost: $425 for the week

Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Description: VRROOOMMMMmm… We will build small versions of things that roll, float and fly. Camp Planes, Trains and Automobiles will play with our collection of Thomas trains, tracks, Duplo building blocks and Matchbox cars. This week will end with a field trip to Entertrainment Junction in West Chester!!! Field trip will occur on Fri. Aug. 1.
When: July 28 – Aug. 1
Cost: $425 for the week

Additional Details

Ratio: 1 Instructor for every 3-4 students
Ages: Students ages 3 – 16 years
Times: Camps run daily from 9:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Grouping: Students will be placed in small groups based on age and ability levels
Deposit: $100 non-refundable deposit due by Friday, June 13
Multiple Week Discount: For families who enroll for 2 or more weeks or 2 or more children, the price will be discounted by $25 per week. Ex: cost for 2 weeks would be $800
Full Payment Due by First Day of Camp

Teen Programs & Super Saturday Social Skills

Community Outings for TEENS

Description: Many teens with disabilities want to ‘go out’ without mom and dad just like their typical peers; however they don’t always have the opportunity. This group will be intended to be a social group for teens while working on building independence in the community. Teens can sign up for all 4 activities or sign up for just specific activities.
Who: Teens ages 13 – 19 yrs old with autism spectrum disorder or related developmental disability
When: Saturdays, 6 p.m.
Cost: $40 per outing, plus the cost of the outing (activities approximately 2 hrs in length)

Super Saturday Social Skills

Description: The social skills play group is a beginning social skills program designed to help students of all ages learn to play and make friends with peers. Children in this group may have limited language and play skills. This group will teach children the fundamental skills of play and leisure activities while utilizing reciprocal play activities. Older students may engage in social activities such as card games, board games, basketball cornhole, and much more.
The social thinking group is advanced social skills program designed to help students of all ages learn to think socially. Students will begin to learn how to be a part of a group, monitor and adapt their own behaviors in social situations, and learn to read social cues. We also will focus on helping them to begin to comprehend the perspectives of others, listen with their whole body, understand humor, and do what’s expected in social situations by following those unwritten rules. It is our goal that children will find the group a safe place to disclose their worries and ambitions about making friends and keeping them.
Who: †Students ages 3–18 years old
Ratio: 1 Instructor for every 3-4 students
When: Saturdays | July 13 – Aug. 3 | 9 – 11 a.m.
Cost: $175 per student
